A milestone moment for Vantage RE

Last Sunday we welcomed Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Malaysian Minister of Natural Resources, Environment & Climate Change and Dato' Indera Ir. Baharin, the CEO of our parent company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), to our new office.  In this article, CEO Vian Davys reflects on why this is a proud moment on the Vantage RE journey so far.

Office opening ceremony

Being together with colleagues from Malaysia to celebrate our fantastic new space was an important milestone for us. From the start of this journey in 2021, when Vantage RE was first established, to moving into our office with a diverse and talented team of 37 from all over the world. We’ve come a long way in a short time.

Our growth has been impressive. But how you grow is as important as growing itself. Of course, we want to drive the rapid transition towards a global low-carbon economy, powered by clean, affordable energy. It’s an urgent challenge. But we want to do it in the right way. We’re committed to an approach that respects communities, the environment, and our team.

Vantage RE owns and operates 530MW of renewable projects across the UK, with an additional 102MW in construction. Our team of experts are dedicated to delivering and operating the highest quality projects with care. We bring together years of solar and wind power expertise to ensure our sites are well managed, optimised and maintained. We focus on fulfilling our core value of ensuring excellence in health, safety and environmental management.

As well as how you grow, there’s also the question of why? As part of TNB, Vantage RE invests in and actively manages a range of renewable energy assets. We act as a growth platform in support of TNB’s commitment to sustainable energy globally. More than that, through developing crucial renewable energy expertise, we’re actively building TNB’s renewable capabilities.

During his visit, the Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad  made it clear that Malaysia is in the process of accelerating their own energy transition, and the success of these efforts are intrinsically linked to TNB – where TNB succeeds, Malaysia will succeed. So, whether it’s finding an innovative solution at a solar farm in the Cornish countryside, to devising a technical fix on a turbine in the North Sea, our ideas, insight and knowledge will contribute to the transition happening 6,000 miles away in the heart of Southeast Asia.

Our ambition and growth are driven by our talented team. We’re proud to have diverse industry specialists from across the globe – made up of over 12 different nationalities – all passionate about helping to deliver a brighter future by driving the transition to clean energy. Our unique diversity not only gives us great potential for understanding and problem solving, it makes Vantage a very special team to be part of.

Right now, just two years since an idea on a page became a reality, Vantage RE is already making an important contribution to the UK's supply of clean energy. Looking ahead, we are committed to increasing our renewable capacity to meet the growing global demand for clean energy. We’re excited to develop TNB’s capability to meet the challenges of securing a net zero future for Malaysia.

On any journey it’s good to know where you’ve come from, and where you are going.  But it’s important to appreciate the present moment along the way. This moment is a proud one for Vantage RE
